"And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you." 1 Thess 5:12 KJV

Installed as Pastor June 23, 2007

Pastor Bruce K. Shaw was the second child born to Bishop Marion E. Shaw and Bertha Rankins Shaw on August 2, 1958 in New Haven,CT. He grew up in the church and from the cradle he heard the word of God preached. When he was about 8 years old his family moved here to Springfield. It was during a powerful revival run by Evangelist Mildred Boyd that he got baptized in Jesus name and days later received the Holy Ghost at the age of 12.

Service and faithfulness were a requirement of every member of the Shaw household and his first job was cleaning the church. On a local level he was active in Sunday School and he emerged from his shyness as he became New Hope's choir director. Around the Connecticut District Council he was known for his enthusiasm and spirit-filled command as he directed the choir. He also served as Treasurer for the C.D.C. Young People's Association and one of the Assistant Coordinators for the International Pentecostal Assemblies of the World.

Bruce graduated High School in 1976 and with his parents permission he joined the Army National Guard. He had loved all things military, he had been in the Junior ROTC in high school and his father was a  former military man.

Pastor and First Lady

Virginia I. Luke and Bruce had known each other growing up over the years. She was a quiet young woman with a self assured character and a strong faith in God.  The two became engaged in May 1978 and were wed September 30, 1978. Their marriage has produced two God-fearing young women, Monique Renee and Ashley Denise.

Although he had no plans to become a pastor, Elder Shaw wanted to be a student of God's word and took courses from Aenon Bible School in 1981. In 1999, Bruce retired from the military with the rank of Major.  In that same year Bruce acknowledged his call to the ministry, became a licensed minister and preached his first sermon. After retiring from the military, Bruce began to teach at New Leadership Charter School where he went on to become the schools' Director.

Bruce was ordained a Minister of the P.A. of W in October 2003. In January 2007, as his father Bishop Marion E. Shaw announced his retirement he also named  Elder Bruce Kevin Shaw to shepherd the flock.

Elder Bruce K. Shaw holds a B.A. in Buisness Management and is currently enrolled in the Pastoral Degree Program at Aenon Bible School.
